Nemesis!

So an impromptu rat shooting session has ended quite frustratingly . It is almost as if this one enormous rat is mocking us. Sticking his head out from cover and ducking back in as we take a shot. Must have had at least 5 goes at him!
We are not amused.

Still we did manage to get a couple. Considering I was using an old bsa meteor as it was all I had to hand.

This big rat is now named nemesis and we are determined to get him.

Late night rat shooting

Out on Friday night shooting rats. Got the lights installed in the coop now so easier to see what's going on. Left the Nitesite at home. (wish I had it though). Rats seem to be a bit bait shy as we only managed 2. There does seem to big some bloody big rats about at the moment though.

Going to fit a Tracer LED 300 to the gun for next week and have a test of that in the pen.
Will be using the GTL480 semi auto again. Speaking of which, we now only have 1 left out of the 10 that we brought into the UK. We may well be getting another batch in (but again in limited numbers of 10 only, get your orders in quick if you want one).

A 12ftlbs air rifle is more suited when shooting in such areas, the pellet won't penetrate the sheds like a more powerful weapon might. (assuming I miss!)

Our new chicken sheds

Some of the rat damage caused this week. Theres lots of holes despite the terrier taking them out.

Birds seem happy enough despite the visitors.

Terrier

Out feeding the chickens this afternoon, so took the dog with me. (Have to be a bit careful not to let him in the coops though!)

Off he went and then came back with this enormous rat in his mouth! Well done. Not even a command from me. He knows he is there to work now!

For those that have asked.. The black box around is neck is not an electric shock collar. It beeps at him from my remote and only vibrates if I really need to get his attention. I really don't like the shocking types.  I rarely have to use it with him now, but if he sees a squirrel....... how many hours of looking for him!

New stock in shop

Been spending ages today sorting out our new displays and getting new stock up on the walls

We now have quite a few Junior Air Rifles and are going to be getting the new Bear Grylls ones in any day now.

Our main gun wall is also starting to get a bit crowded!

I do prefer to display our guns like this though, much easier to compare all of the so many varieties we now stock!

Hopefully we will have the new Gold Stars in soon! Looks like they may be finally ready for customers.

Mad dog!

Our terrier was very well behaved today. Even posed for his photo with his 'trophy' rat. He's usually a bit mad and will try and eat them (not too good for dogs really). Finally after 9 years maybe he is learning.

Back on the farm for an evening rat shooting session next week with the gang. (No dogs allowed). Our war on rats continues.

Sunday, 8 February 2015

We will be visiting the British Shootin Show 2015 on Sunday. For those that can't make it, I will be blogging some bits and pieces live.

Terrier ratting 2.

Ratting with our terrier Rufus again. He does love to dig. For those that asked he is a mix of a patterdale and jack russell (patterjack).
