Staff training

In between all of the painting and building work we have tried to get our new staff up to speed with the various products we stock.
This means fun!
Even though the range isn't quite ready for public use we have had the team hard at work learning various shooting disciplines and techniques.
They are getting quite good as well!
From hunting rifles to dedicated target guns, everyone is having a go with all of them.
The range will be open for public use very soon!

New Gun Shop

www.diffcal.co.ukwww.diffcal.co.uk

We have finally moved the shop to Dunhams Court. Our new building is huge and contains our shop, shooting range and social area.

We are still stocking up on more guns, but already have an excellent selection from all of the manufacturers. We are starting to bring in more archery kit as well and whilst we are currently focusing on beginners we will eventually be expanding this to more competition level products.

The shooting range will be open in the next week or so. (we know it's taking a while, but we need to make sure its a safe place). The cost will be around £10 an hour per person, with options to buy time up front at a discount. We are open to all ages and abilities. Any under 18's must be supervised by someone over the age of 21 and each adult may only supervise a maximum of 2 children.

Target shooting

Whilst our usual blog posts are all about hunting and pest control, some of our new staff shoot completely different disciplines.

One of our new lead instructors has been in training this weekend. Ten meter competition target shooting. (This isn't at our range.)

Evening stroll and shoot

Despite working round the clock to get the new shop and range up and running our team are still finding a bit of time to get out shooting.

A Sunday afternoon stroll through the woods to pop off a few pigeons, although there wasn't much about, we did see the local deer herd. (Not to be shot at, even the rabbits are off lots here!)

It's amazing what sort of old buildings you see on farms. We didn't hang around here as it's not exactly safe, but too interesting not to get a photo! Sometimes it's nice just to get out in the countryside.

Ratting then started at the chicken coops!

Working well into the night using a BSA super ten fitted with a Nitesite viper... And yes that is a cart of muck from the horses!

A tried and tested Gamo whisper fusion.
Overall we knocked over 24 rats between the three of us. We are all using the new Predator Polymag pellets now. They are proving to be excellent pest control pellets ands although expensive, they have been very realiable and consistent.  Not bad for an evenings stroll around the farm.

Social area

Our new social area upstairs is almost ready. Few more sofas to go in this week.
It's available for private parties as well as club meetings etc but will generally be open during the day so you can grab a coffee.
The shop is now open, lots of new guns arriving already. A little bit more work on the range to do and then we will be ready.

Another update

The shop is now open, we have lots of new stock arriving in the next few days but already there is plenty to come and look at. We are still working on the shooting range and it shouldn't be too long now before you can come and play.
In the meantime, feel free to come down and see the new building and all of the new toys we are getting in.

The new Kral Arms Bullpups are now in stock. These are in .22 (available in .177) and we have both the walnut and tactical versions.

These are priced at £450 and come with 2 magazines.

The new Umarex Colt Single Action Army Pellet versions have finally arrived. These are in stock in all 3 versions, nickel, antique and blued.

New shop update

We have finally moved most of our gear over to the new shop and shooting range at Dunhams court, Letchworth

The old shop looks rather empty now

After there being a gun shop in The Wynd for around 30 years we are sorry to leave but it was getting too small for us; largely thanks to everyone that has supported us over the past few years. We couldn't have done this without our customers support and encouragement.

The new shop is nearly 4 times the size and will have an enormous airgun and archery range attached.

The shop is now open although in a limited capacity for a week or so while we get settled. Excuse the chaos while we sort out new stock and displays.

The range is still under construction, we  will post on our social media sites etc when it is ready. In the meantime our opening hours are 9.30-4.30 mon-sat with weds being half day closing at 1.00. Once open the range will be available 7 days a week until 8pm mon-sat and until 4pm on Sunday.

We have taken on a lot of new staff, some with lots of experience and qualifications and others with 'energy'
Please bear with us as we start our new venture, this will hopefully become a great facility for the area and we look forward to welcoming everyone of all ages and abilities.

Shooting range update

www.diffcal.co.uk

Apologise for not writing much this month, we have been so busy getting things ready for the new shop and range. Thanks to everyone who has supported and encouraged us to go ahead with this venture, as you can imagine it is a big step for us to expand like this.

The good news is that we are nearly there, just waiting now on the local constabulary to authorise the security (I know where I will be going come the zombie apocolypse!) and to move all of our current stock over. We will be getting in lots of new stock over the next few months, just bear with us and let us know if there is anything you particuarly think would be good to have in, new pellets etc.

We have now finished recruiting all of our new staff and have a really good team to work with. We will be able to offer beginners instruction and more high level coaching if you want it, essentially we can cater for all levels of ability. Also birthday parties etc will be available.

We will be able to offer about 30 lanes of shooting up to around 30yrds distance, the place is huge, and you really only get an idea of the scale when lorries start driving in to make deliveries!

Please see our main FAQ on the website for further details if you haven't yet read it.
