Spring rats

Spring Pest Control

With the weather slowly getting warmer there has been a notable increase in the rat and pigeon population on the farms. With that in mind we set out yesterday for a bit of a recce at the various local places we shoot on.
Our first stop was a small holding (lots of chickens) which has a major rat problem. The owner always allows us to use her place to zero our air rifles. Ash is still using his trusty Gamo Fusion whilst Joe has a Hatsan Edge Sniper. So after a good hour of zeroing (plinking!) we settled in the coops to take out the rats.....then it chucked it down with rain!

Due to the sudden shower we had only hit 2 rats at the chicken coops and we quickly left for one of the farms to shoot in the barns out of the rain.

Another 12 shot at the barns after an hour or so which was fine for us for a night out. There are some really big ones running around at the moment and with the abundance of food about it is pointless baiting them. Out again next week as the weather improves.
